The Spring 2020 Graduate Student Symposium Planning Committee (GSSPC) from the University of Michigan is pleased to continue the practice of offering $500 travel grants to subsidize travel costs for students attending the ACS National Meeting in Philadelphia. The purpose of the grant is to help defray costs for travel, lodging, and conference registration.
The GSSPC symposium entitled, "Smart Materials: From Stimuli to Response" will highlight innovative research in responsive materials from a diverse group of distinguished speakers. Travel grant recipients will be expected to attend the day-long symposium while in attendance at the national meeting.

To apply you will need to fill out the online application. It will require the following:
Students from historically underrepresented or socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications are due September 23, 2019 with notification of award dispersal by early to mid October.

- 500-word personal statement describing your career aspirations and explaining how receiving this travel grant will help you achieve your goals.
- Letter of recommendation from faculty or mentor who can speak to your research skills, classwork, and/or dedication to science.
